The Cooper Gallery #MuseumJigsaws Daily Challenge!

Barnsley Museums digital curator Michael Hardy talks about our daily #MuseumJigsaws challenge, which has gone global over the past few weeks.

Hundreds of people around the world are pondering over a different kind of puzzle. To help people to explore our collections during lock down we have been sharing a daily, digital dose of jigsaw fun inspired by our outstanding art collection at the Cooper Gallery.

Each jigsaw is made using a painting or drawing from the gallery’s collection, which has been brought together in Barnsley over the last hundred years, including works by many famous names. As well as testing people’s brain power the game also offers an insight into these wonderful works of art at a time when the public can’t physically visit the Gallery.

Our #MuseumJigsaws have now gained followers from across the world. They have been reported on in the Yorkshire Post (click here to read the article) and as far afield as Australia.

We will be sharing more puzzles throughout lock down, and hopefully beyond. Head over to the Cooper Gallery on Facebook and Twitter to find out more. Make it more interesting by challenging your friends. Let us know your best times and see if you beat us. Be warned though – we’re pretty good!
